Being a Correctional Officer oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect a community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for a part-time Correctional Administrative Technician. Correctional Administrative Technicians work within an institution and are customer service oriented and may greet clients, visitors, volunteers, answering phone calls at a facility front entry desk, and disseminate information to staff. Technicians are often the first point of contact for staff, contractors, volunteers, and stakeholders coming to or calling the facility. The Correctional Administrative Technicians may provide administrative support to correctional officers and can assist with property rollups, inventory, enter move sheets and case notes, control door panels, monitor radio traffic, assist with count, monitor incoming and outgoing mail, telephone calls, and emails. This announcement will be used for the South Boise Complex to include Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC), Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI), and Idaho Maximum Security Institution (IMSI), Mountain View Transformation Center (MVTC) in Boise Idaho. This is a temporary part-time position. Benefits may be available depending on hours worked.
