Correctional Officer jobs in Lincoln, NE
Correctional Officer enforces rules and regulations in a prison, jail or other holding facility. Presides over prisoners awaiting trial or those who have been convicted of a crime. Being a Correctional Officer oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Dawson County currently has an opening for a Full Time Correctional Officer. This position enforces federal, state, and local laws to protect lives and property within the guidelines of state and federal laws, traffic laws, local ordinances, and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must be 19 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
- Valid Nebraska Operator's License, required.
- Meet the requirements of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.
- Be able to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Applicants will undergo a background check, T.A.B.E. and psychological testing, and must pass a pre-employment drug test.
