      Location/Other:

      We currently can hire for this position from the following locations: Lakewood, CO, and surrounding areas. 

      Our spacious Lakewood, CO office, has an on-site gym and food trucks twice a month!  

      The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting. 


      Primary purpose:

      Responsible for maintaining transmission pipeline and facilities integrity and safety as well as complying with federally mandated regulations. This will primarily be accomplished through execution of the Corrosion Control program and supporting Tallgrass Integrity Management Programs. The position includes working closely with Operations, Engineering, and other stakeholders in developing, implementing and managing corrosion standards and practices as well as various aspects of the IMP. 

       

      Essential duties and responsibilities:

      • Direct, implement, and provide engineering Tallgrass’ internal corrosion programs (Gas and Liquid)
      • Provide engineering support for the Corrosion Program through data reviews, field testing, CP design, new project support, and interference studies
      • Supports field staff involved in testing and installation of coupons and biocide treatment
      • Work closely with third party contractors for coupon analysis
      • Support Integrity Management Program for Natural Gas and Hazardous Liquids
      • Develop, improve, and maintain integrity and corrosion related procedures and SOPs
      • Develop and track Performance Measures for the Corrosion Program
      • Communicate with other department stakeholders and SMEs related the corrosion program including data collection, data integration, and distribution of results 
      • Participate in internal and PHMSA / DOT regulatory audits and implement resulting action items
      • Respond to field inquiries related to Asset Integrity and Corrosion
      • Identify opportunities to complete corrosion work in tandem with other company work to minimize cost and disruption to service
      • Take ownership and drive resolution, technical recommendations, procedure creation/modification in addition to support and guidance for any complex corrosion related issues
      • Troubleshoot and address integrity issues related to execution of the Corrosion Programs and IMP
      • Ensure that work is completed in accordance with internal standards and approved policies, procedures, safety rules, budgets and in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction
      • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism
      • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully
      • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance
      • Will work non-traditional hours as needed
      • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
      • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined

      Minimum requirements:

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline
      • An acceptable substitute for a degree is ten (10) years direct work experience in Corrosion Operation, Pipeline Integrity, or DOT compliance or related tasks

       

      Experience/Specific Knowledge:

      • A working knowledge of PHMSA Regulations including CFR 192 Subpart I and CFR 195 Subpart H
      • Experience with gas and liquid pipeline internal corrosion and mitigation
      • Experience with cathodic protection design and testing as well as interference testing/mitigation and coatings
      • A working knowledge of PHMSA Pipeline IMP Regulations (Title 49 CFR Parts 192 Subpart O or 195.452)
      • Fundamental knowledge of pipeline integrity threats and their associated mechanisms
      • Experience with pipeline defect assessment and repair methods
      • Knowledge and experience in operation of pipeline, measurement, pump stations, compressor stations, storage tanks, and all related equipment
      • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook

       

      Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

      • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel)

      • Strong analytical and problem solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
      • Working knowledge of project management methods and practices
      • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job
      • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
      • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines
      • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work
      • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate

      Working Conditions:

      • Occasional overnight travel may be required
      • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours
      • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
      • Required to clear random drug screening

       

      Supervisory Responsibility:

      None 

      PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

      Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

      • Ten (10) years experience with internal corrosion engineering on crude oil/gas pipelines
      • Five (5) years experience with external corrosion engineering
      • Significant experience in developing and implementing Corrosion Control Programs for oil and gas pipelines
      • Working experience with PCS (CPDM)
      • Professional Engineer
      • AMPP Certifications (CP2 or CP3, NACE Internal Corrosion Technologist, etc.)
      • Significant experience with Pipeline Safety Regulations (49 CFR 192 Subpart O, 49 CFR 195.452 and associated federal code), ASME B31.8S and B31.4, API 2611, 653, 650 and 12F, pipeline databases and risk management programs
      • Experience with ArcGIS and other ESRI mapping and analysis software
      • Significant experience with developing performance metrics
      • Five or more (5 ) years’ work experience in one or more of the following areas: Pipeline Integrity or Compliance Engineering
      • Strong working knowledge of gas and hazardous liquids operations
      • Significant experience participating in regulatory audits and responding to audit findings
      • Knowledge of Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS)
      • Demonstrated agility and expertise when leading initiatives
