Being a Cosmetologist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. In addition, Cosmetologist relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated experience working in a spa or salon. Demonstrated experience performing within specific deadlines or under pressure.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or the equivalent in education or experience. Completion of a state-approved cosmetology program. Preferred one (1) or more years of recent and related salon or spa experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills using English.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must hold a valid cosmetology license as required by the state.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Proficiency in various beauty techniques and treatments. Creativity and an eye for detail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential duties involve performing physical exertion such as frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, pushing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, and standing for an entire work shift with standard breaks. Essential duties may require lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store, or move spa, salon, or general office supplies and equipment. Essential duties require manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
$28.00 hour based on experience gratuities service commission sales commission
