    Bauer Underground is looking for a Job Cost Accountant in our Norfolk & Lincoln Office. The Job Cost Accountant will work closely with our Controller in the preparation of accurate and timely job costing information, billing to customers and general contractors, and the preparation of periodic financial statements. 

    Job Highlights:
    • Full-time, Monday through Friday.
    • $55,000 - $70,000 annual salary.

    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Input and validate job cost expenses from subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and employees. 
    • Account for inventory usage, maintain sub ledgers and reconcile to the general ledger. 
    • Assist in the preparation of periodic progress and final billings to customers and general contractors. 
    • Post payments from customers to appropriate job billings. 
    • Assist in preparing bank and credit card reconciliations. 
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts and post journal entries as appropriate. 
    • Reconcile and prepare payroll and sales and use tax returns. 
    • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records and reconcile them to the general ledger. 
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • None.

    Education and Experience:
    • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
    • Prefer 1-2 years of accounting experience but am willing to train the right individual.

     Knowledge & Skills:
    • Thorough understanding of but willing to train the right individual. 
      • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), specifically construction job cost accounting.
      • Accounting processes and procedures including construction job costing and billings.
      • Nebraska sales and use tax law specifically for construction contractors. 
      • Payroll tax law and the ability to complete and file quarterly payroll tax returns. 
      • Nebraska construction contractor laws and compliance regulations. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and Computer Ease, Sage 300 or similar construction job costing accounting software. 
    • Ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail. 
    • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with managers, co-workers, suppliers, vendors, customers, financial institutions, and subcontractors. 

    Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
