Description
It is the responsibility of the cost accountant to play a key role in analyzing and optimizing production costs, conduct detailed cost analyses for manufacturing processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in an SAP environment. Some responsibilities include but are not limited to monitor and reconcile inventory data, develop and maintain KPI’s, optimize inventory management and reduce carrying costs.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize SAP modules to conduct detailed cost analyses for manufacturing processes, identifying variances and areas for cost control.
- Analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Configure and maintain SAP cost accounting modules to accurately represent the complexities of manufacturing cost structures.
- Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve SAP-related issues impacting cost accounting processes in the manufacturing setting.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory data within SAP, ensuring alignment with manufacturing processes and cost accounting standards.
- Work closely with the production team to optimize inventory management and reduce carrying costs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and finance teams to develop and manage budgets within SAP, considering production volumes, materials, and overhead costs.
- Use SAP functionalities to assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial forecasts for manufacturing operations.
- Conduct regular variance analyses to identify discrepancies between actual and standard costs.
- Generate comprehensive manufacturing cost reports using SAP reporting tools, providing actionable insights for management decision-making.
- Develop and maintain customized SAP reports for management to assess key performance indicators and variances.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in cost accounting procedures specific to a manufacturing environment.
- Implement best practices within SAP to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in manufacturing cost tracking.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
- Prior experience as a Cost Accountant with a focus on manufacturing processes is required.
- Extensive knowledge of SAP cost accounting modules and their application in a manufacturing setting with a proficiency in SAP reporting tools and advanced Excel skills is required.
- Familiarity with inventory management principles in a manufacturing context is required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex manufacturing cost data.
- Ability to be a self-starter and to work independently.
- Must possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing cost accounting.
Certificates and Licenses:
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
