Cost Accounting Manager ensures that costs for the company's products and services are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance financial accounting standards. Oversees the cost control systems, manages and interprets cost audits, and prepares cost accounting reports for presentation to top management. Being a Cost Accounting Manager gathers historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.), to compare budgets with actual expenses. Manages the cost accounting staff to complete projects. Additionally, Cost Accounting Manager requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a Director. Responsibilities
Performs detailed analysis on inventory costs to assist in the development of standard costs and understanding of inventory variances
Execute daily standard cost updates (or periodically as required)
Execute the standard cost update process on an annual basis.
Analyzes results of inventory counts and their impact to the Income statement.
Reconciles and balances general ledger accounts, then researches and corrects any discrepancies
Interacts with cross-functional teams including plant operations, procurement and commercial groups
Performs inter-company transactions.
Answers financial and accounting questions by researching, analyzing and interpreting data
Partners closely with the Business Unit Controller to monitor key financial performance indicators and makes recommendations to improve performance
Responsible for MonthEnd Close
Responsible to close WorkOrders on a Weekly basis and investigate variances when required.
Run month end process order settlements and assessments and provide monthly reporting on various related metrics - Completion of month end close responsibilities.
Participate in cross-functional meetings and teams designed to provide improvements to current purchasing practices and processes.
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Accounting from an accredited university required
Cost Accounting experienced. (Required)
People Management Experience (Required)
CPA (Preferred)
Knowledge of accounting procedures and practices, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with a variety of accounting principles, concepts, practices, procedures and GAAP requirements
Experience in preparing financial statements and owning Month Close process
Excel knowledge
Prior experience with SAP & Oracle is a plus, but not required.
Must be a self-motivated, pro-active individual who can handle working in a repetitive. Challenge the Status Quo personality. Because this position is a process heavy role, selected candidate will be required to not only complete the required tasks but constantly strive to reduce inefficiencies and improve the overall processes.
