SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing clerical, bookkeeping, and simple financial analysis support for the Finance Organization in accordance with established practices and procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Cost Accounting:

• Responsible for updating the latest material costs in the system (PO Variance).
• Assist with reviewing and inquiring about inventory adjustments, as needed
• Preparation of JVs to assist other members of the department, as needed
• Assist with any reconciliations or schedules for G/L accounts, as needed
• Assist with the preparation for our annual inventory schedule, as needed
• Scheduling and running month-end reports for the department for all entities
• Preparation of JVs to assist members of the department for all applicable entities

The position is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and will report directly to the Cost Accounting Supervisor for tasks related to that department. 

After all applicable training has been provided to the incumbent, he/she will be expected to work independently on routine tasks and be able to receive and carry out specific instructions on new assignments and projects.  The Intern should be proactive in asking for instruction when needed to clarify an assignment or seek help with a challenging topic.  Often, he/she will have to multi-task to meet assigned deadlines and changing demands and should seek guidance on prioritization of duties as needed.  Upon completion of an assigned task, it will be reviewed and evaluated by the respective department supervisor (or manager in specific circumstances) for accuracy, completeness, overall performance, modifications, follow-up, and suggestions for improvement (if any) with the incumbent.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a four-year college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or other similar major with plans to pursue a career in Accounting or Finance.  
• Must have a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles from college coursework and indicate general bookkeeping practices and procedures.
• Must be able to work independently with moderate supervision and meet assigned deadlines. 
• Must have strong analytical arithmetic skills.  He/she must be familiar with MS Word and MS Excel and demonstrate an aptitude for increased proficiency in its usage. 
• An aspiration to learn about the role that accounting and finance play within a corporate organization, and the ambition to develop his/her accounting knowledge and skill set is highly desired.
