Cost Accounting Supervisor jobs in Sioux Falls, SD

Description

The purpose of the Cost Accountant is to utilize knowledge of accounting principles and practices to manage job cost accounting, contract management, and accounts payable/accounts receivable as related to jobs.

• Review and analyze job cost reports
• Collaborate with Project Managers on cost variances and initiate corrective action
• Comply with contract terms and accounting schedules for each project
• Conduct routine internal auditing of jobs, contracts, subcontractors, and purchase orders
• Initiate monthly WIP accounting process to determine over and under billed jobs
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes
• Reconcile balance sheet and income or expense accounts related to job costing monthly
• Generate periodic job cost and financial reports
• Prepare schedules as requested by external auditors
• Execute automation initiatives to streamline and minimize paper processing/repetitive tasks
• Prepare ad hoc reports for project management
• Other general accounting duties as assigned
• Serve as backup for AR position:
  • Monthly billing/construction draws utilizing AIA forms
  • Learn Textura, ProCore & GCPay software as needed for submitting billings
  • Complete & maintain lien waivers as needed
  • Prepare subcontractor work orders & maintain master subcontracts
• Serve as backup for AP/CM position:
  • Daily cash management duties including Positive Pay & payment deposits
  • AP invoice entry & processing
  • Print checks, send ACH or Wire payments

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Accounting/Business or Construction/PM 2 or 4 year Degree required
• Four (4) years related accounting experience preferred
• Knowledge of Sage 300 CRE preferred
