Collects data and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Being a Cost Estimation Engineer identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Additionally, Cost Estimation Engineer coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cost Estimation Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Job Description:
• Work cross-functionally across the organization (program management, procurement, operations, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, test, production, business development, contracts)
• Create innovative ideas in support of internal research and development.
• Generate and implement improvements in product design and test throughput.
• Interface directly with customers and suppliers to support technical issues.
• Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to engineering and test staff
• Research and apply electrical engineering principles and theories to solve customer problems
• Support full program life cycles (concept, specification, prototype, production, sustainment)
• Lead teams of design engineers using established design and development process models (CMMI, Six Sigma for Design, or equivalent)
• Create, review, approve Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variances (RFVs)
• Support and lead systems engineering, software engineering, and mechanical engineering efforts
• Create and update corporate and engineering processes and procedures
• Performs other functions as needed to support the company’s goals.
