Cost Estimation Engineer jobs in Nassau, NY

Carver Companies is looking to hire a Cost Accountant with excellent organizational and analytical skills to join our growing team. The cost accountant is expected to be detailed oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines.

To ensure success, the cost accountant should be confident, professional, and meticulous with a keen interest in the cost-efficient operations of the organization. Outstanding presentation and report-writing skills with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team is essential for this role. The cost accountant will work closely with one or more Divisional Controllers within the accounting team.  Experience in Construction or similar industries is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Refine and maintain the job cost accounting system, documents, and records of the division(s).
• Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
• Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
• Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.
• Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost.
• Analyze costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual costs.
• Make estimates of new and proposed product and/or service costs.
• Provide management and Controllers with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation as necessary.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or related field (required).
• Minimum of 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience (preferred).
• Construction industry experience (preferred).
• Sound understanding of accounting principles.
• Solid job cost systems background.
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent report-writing, communication, and IT skills.

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.  Estimated starting range $65,000 to $80,000.  Actual range may vary.
