Collects data and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Being a Cost Estimation Engineer identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Cost Estimator in Manufacturing
Pay Rate: $20.00-$32.00/Hour Based upon experience
V-Tron Electronics is a veteran owned business, privately owned and incorporated in Massachusetts since 1970. We offer electronic assembly services to a wide variety of industries including semiconductors, medical, military, telecommunications and industrial electronics. V-Tron offers contract assembly services for cable, wire harness, fiber optic and box build assemblies.
Primary Function:
To establish standard routings and costed parts list in order to provide the necessary data to calculate costs for assemblies or services provided.
Scope of Duties:
Establish material cost to prescribed customer parameters by soliciting bids from suppliers. Build standard PL’s in V-Tron Electronics PL database. Documents these costs in parts master database. Develop standard routings by identifying required operations on customer blueprints in the most efficient way possible.
Experience Required:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Minimum 2 years assembly, supervisory, or management experience in manufacture of wire harnesses/cable assembly operations. Candidates not meeting these requirements but show a strong aptitude for success may be considered by V-Tron Electronics management.
Skills Required:
Cost estimators must posses a working knowledge of windows based software including but not limited to MS word, MS excel and MS outlook.
Have in depth understanding related to output of process equipment and techniques related to wire harness and cable assembly manufacturing.
Communicate well with specific engineering departments assigned to develop and prove time standards for operations relating to cable and wire harness assembly.
Exhibit strong negotiating and communications skills with external suppliers.
Must be well organized and precise in documenting and storing data related to material cost, and time estimates.
Required Training:
Cost estimators must meet the experience criteria documented above. Also must be willing to work in V-Tron Electronics assembly floor until they display in depth understanding of assembly techniques associated with cable and wire harness assembly.
