Cost Estimation Engineer estimates costs for construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other implementation projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements. Collects data and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Being a Cost Estimation Engineer identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Additionally, Cost Estimation Engineer coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cost Estimation Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     General Description:

    In this role, you will be assisting in the development and management of the project financial strategy. You will be working directly with the project management team to manage the project budget, costs, change orders, pricing requests, billings and forecasts. You will be responsible for generating and maintaining reports that provide information to different groups, work with the management team to identify variances, risks and maintain quality control processes to improve project cost procedures and ensuring conformity with management's strategy.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Monitor performance and project financial control plans to identify improvements
    • Work closely with project teams to evaluate and formulate an independent assessment of the indicated outcome of major project financial earnings.
    • Design, develop, and deliver dashboards that enable senior leaders and business teams to efficiently understand data trends of active projects
    • Understand key business needs and translate into dashboard data, metric, and dimension requirements
    • Share solutions and collaborate with the broader analytics, business intelligence, and internal IT community
    • Continually engage in self-learning activities to advance understanding of the latest technologies and construction processes
    • Develop process and tools to institute predictive financial modeling
    • Ensure adherence to data governance, compliance, and risk policies
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify performance improvement opportunities
    • Review project cost reports, identifying trends and providing ideas for managing costs to the Senior Project Profit Manager.

    Project Analysis:

    • Forecast validation – review/validate Project Manager forecast
    • Understand construction opportunities/risk – ability to monetize same
    • Evaluate financial impacts of change management and process effectiveness
    • Organize data to produce constructive analysis to positively affect outcome
    • BU Analysis: Aggregate project performance by BU, Customer, Geography, PX, OE, PM, Etc.

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, such as Building Science, Construction Management or Engineering or in Accounting
    • Experience developing data models and dashboards
    • Expert-level proficiency in designing and building data models to enable optimal use
    • Experience gathering business requirements for reporting needs
    • Strong attention to detail and managing time efficiently
    • Strong collaboration skills
    • Highly responsive and driven individual for a demanding work environment
