Job Description
Syracuse University’s mission is to create an engaging mobile experience for its students, faculty, and staff. The Creative Developer – Mobile App works collaboratively with the mobile experience team and its stakeholders to design, develop, test, and implement featured content and engaging features for the Syracuse University mobile application.
A primary focus of the Creative Developer – Mobile App is to provide high-quality solutions to the evolving content needs of the mobile app to ensure continued relevance and sustainable growth of the mobile platform. The Creative Developer is responsible for the creation and maintenance of code (primarily, but not limited to: javascript, JSON, and the consumption of API-related data) to create custom content within the mobile app platform. In addition to providing strategic mobile platform support for campus collaborators, they will also provide tier 1 support for user-reported issues. They also stay apprised of industry improvements and recommend implementation plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or 4 years of experience in mobile application or creative front-end web development; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience creating and developing content for digital platforms.
- A strong desire to learn new technologies as the platform evolves.
- Demonstrable experience working with JSON, javascript, APIs, and third party systems.
- Creative design and UI/UX experience is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, create, and maintain new and engaging content areas within the Syracuse University Mobile App, collaborate with the mobile experience team to integrate content seamlessly into the app architecture.
- Collaborate on, and assist with the development and implementation of innovative new app features and user interfaces to deliver a continuously improving user experience within the mobile app.
- Perform rigorous testing of creative content and features to identify and resolve bugs, glitches, and performance issues.
- Work with campus collaborators to create, maintain, and support the needed communication groups and channels within the app.
- Provide Tier-1 support for user-related issues within the app, work with mobile experience team to resolve platform issues.
