Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Credit and Collections Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Credit and Collections Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Credit Limit Setting: Determine appropriate credit limits for customers based on risk assessment, financial data, and company policies.
    • Collections Management: Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue payments through phone calls, emails, and letters.
    • Dispute Resolution: Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve billing disputes and discrepancies in a timely manner.
    • Cash Application: Ensure accurate and timely application of customer payments to their respective accounts in the accounting system.
    • Credit Policy Compliance: Enforce credit policies and procedures to mitigate bad debt risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Customer Communication: Maintain regular communication with customers to address payment issues, negotiate payment plans, and cultivate positive relationships.
    • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable aging, collections performance, and credit risk analysis for management review.
    • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline the credit and collections process, enhance efficiency, and reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
    • Credit Monitoring: Monitor customer accounts for signs of financial distress or changes in credit risk and take appropriate actions to mitigate potential losses.
    • Assist accounting team with assignments as needed.
    • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and credit reports.
    • Strong interpersonal (both verbal and written) communication skills.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and analysis.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
