Credit and Collections Director leads the overall credit function. Designs and implements processes to improve cash flow and reduce receivables. Being a Credit and Collections Director develops policies regarding the investigation of customers, extension of credit lines, and collections. Consults with current and future clients regarding their level of credit. Additionally, Credit and Collections Director oversees the negotiation and course of action taken for overdue accounts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Credit and Collections Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Collections Specialist
802 Credit Union accepting applications for a Full Time Collections Specialist working out of our Brattleboro Operations Center.
The candidate for this position would have excellent communication and Interpersonal skills such as building relationships and encouraging cooperation. Discussions involve a high degree of confidentiality and discretion requiring diplomacy and tact in conversations.
Responsibilities Include:
-contacting delinquent accounts by phone and mail
-Analyzing financial situation to make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful
-Maintain accurate files and reports on all collection activity. Ensure timely contact of members with delinquent loans
-Adhere to provisions as set forth in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
-Provide informed, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and employees.
Requirements – One to Three years of similar or related experience preferred; High School Education & Excellent Communication skills with an emphasis on outstanding customer service. Work experience from a financial institution preferred but will train the right person.
