Credit and Collections Supervisor is responsible for the activities and operations in the credit and collections department. Oversees the processing and verification of applications for credit and the solicitation for payment on overdue accounts. Being a Credit and Collections Supervisor investigates credit issues and suggests payment options to be approved. Ensures collectors follow all protocols, laws and regulations to collect payments efficiently. Additionally, Credit and Collections Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Credit and Collections Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Position Summary:
ACU has an exciting opportunity for a Collection Specialist to join our Collection Department in Ashland, Kentucky. This position will be responsible for administrative duties within the Collection Department. Working with Collections Manager to assist members experiencing financial difficulty.
Job Responsibilities:
Monitor payments for delinquent status. Contact members by phone, text, and mail to assist them in developing plans to bring accounts current. Develop workout plans whenever possible.
Update files and system accounts via the credit unions delinquent loan recovery system. Maintaining a detailed written record of all communications with members.
Maintain accurate data for repossession log and bankruptcy log.
Review delinquent accounts to determine when further collection action, making recommendation to Collection Supervisor for approval.
File proof of claims in bankruptcy case, coordinate with collection supervisor for referral to attorney as needed.
Prepare account files to be referred to repossession agent as needed.
Education & Experience Requirements:
2 years experience working in a financial services environment with at least 1 year in collections preferred.
Required Skills & Abilities:
High School diploma or equivalent
College degree preferred
