Encina Private Credit Opportunity: Associate of Underwriting and Portfolio Management focused on Commercial Cash Flow Lending
Job Description
We are seeking an Associate or Analyst of Underwriting and Portfolio Management to join the credit and risk team at Encina Capital Partners, ("Encina") a private credit finance company based in Norwalk, Connecticut. Encina is focused on providing senior secured cash flow facilities to middle market companies primarily sponsor-led leveraged transactions.
This position will focus on underwriting first lien senior secured loans as well as monitoring new and existing portfolio transactions. The candidate will be part of a team responsible for performing thorough credit analysis, financial modeling and preparing credit assessments and approval documentation. The candidate will also manage and analyze the financial trends and performance of their assigned portfolio credits and evaluate amendment requests. They should also have strong analytical skills and verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- As part of a team, initiate financial and business due diligence to determine the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers.
- Develop in-depth understanding of each company’s business model, financial performance trends, growth drivers and credit risks.
- Perform financial and technical analyses, develop financial models based on company and industry data to determine potential performance.
- Conduct thorough industry and business due diligence including assessment of credit risks and valuation.
- Monitor a portfolio of existing transactions including financial reporting, ratings changes, news, amendments and waivers.
- Effectively communicate credit views and recommendations to Chief Risk Officer and committee members, both written and verbally for new lending opportunities as well as existing accounts under management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Completed or completing MBA a plus.
- Previous work experience would center around commercial lending products and/or overall exposure to financial analysis.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting. We are looking for a general aptitude and a strong willingness to dig in and learn.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet timely objectives.
- The ability to take guidance, research solutions and problem solving. Looking for a candidate with a mindset of taking the initiative.

- Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
