    Description:  The Purpose of this position is to provide clinical services to clients in the substance use treatment program. The Clinician I functions as an unlicensed clinical provider who works under direct supervision collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provides diagnostic assessment and treatment to clients in the substance use treatment program. Responsibilities include assessment/intake, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, case management, and related documentation.

    Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
     
    • Provide client care with minimal direct supervision, for a minimally acute caseload.
    • Provide individual and/or family and/or group therapy.
    • Complete screenings, intakes, assessments, and treatment plans.
    • Write timely clinical documentation with advanced clinical competency.
    • Develop and implement treatment plans with direct supervision.
    • Engage clients in ways that ensure timely goal achievement and successful discharge/ transition.
    • Under direct supervision, oversee basic direct care (skill development services) in community settings by care workers or BI’s. Provide basic case management services to coordinate client access to wrap-care.
    • Attend treatment team meetings.
    • Ensure client accesses and attends medical, social, educational, vocational, housing, financial and other services.
    • Ensure clients access and utilize the full spectrum of their support networks.
    • Provide basic support to collaborating agencies to access services and remain informed about client care and treatment progress with proper releases.
    • Attend and contribute meaningful client information at staff meetings as required.
    • Under direct supervision, manage basic problems and crisis situations that do not require multi-system responses.
    • Under general supervision, answer and return client phone calls, manage basic requests, problems, crisis.
    • Upon request, provide basic information and data to report on general program outcomes.
    • Attend entry level trainings, teach basic skills individually or in group settings.
    • Complete basic client referrals for personal case load.
    • Follow all program policies and procedures.
    • Other duties may be assigned according to agency and program needs.

    Additional Requirements:
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
    • Ability to interact well clients, WCMHS staff, and other professionals.
    • Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle.
    • Able to drive a vehicle without accommodation and occasionally transport clients as needed.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
    • Able to transition from sitting to standing with or without accommodation.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours.
    • Rostered with OPR or willing to be rostered.
    • Willing to obtain Apprentice Addiction Professional certification within 180 days of hire.

    Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, criminal justice, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Knowledge of – DSM 5 – counseling and substance abuse treatment, co-occurring disorders, DAP notes, local agencies/ providers, Professional Ethics and Standards and HIPAA Regulations and Standards, ASAM, 42CFR part 2
    • Experience providing direct supports and therapeutic services clients with substance use disorders and mental health concerns.
    • Experience with trauma informed care systems and trauma informed language.
    • Experience developing clinical recommendations that take all client preferences into account.
    • Strong skills in developing therapeutic rapport that maintains boundaries and facilitates a safe and dependable treatment experience for clients.
    • Skills in timely documentation and administration processes that enable excellent and up-to-date client chart management.
