The Curriculum Developer II conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Being a Curriculum Developer II develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. In addition, Curriculum Developer II writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Being a Curriculum Developer II occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Curriculum and Program Quality Coordinator is responsible for creating a culture of Achievement, Relationships, and Belonging for every youth within our programs. The Curriculum and Program Quality Coordinator will assist in improving and maintaining all afterschool program’s quality, oversee and develop all curricula for youth development-related programs and events, and train and support thirteen site coordinators and after school sites.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop engaging and appropriate curriculum and manage the implementation of curriculum for sites that have part-time or transitory site coordinators, schools out camp, and other youth development-related events such as Parent night outs and family engagement activities
    • Review, provide feedback, and approve curricula for sites developed by full-time site coordinators to ensure programs are implementing engaging and relevant curricula
    • Regularly observe all programs and work with Site Coordinators and Program Assistants to create employee and program goals and improvement monitoring plans
    • Purchase supplies for all youth development programs including, but not limited to regular afterschool programming, schools out camp, and family engagement events
    • Work with the supervisor(s) to schedule, develop, and execute regular training for program staff
    • Coach and assist with training and evaluations for Site Coordinators and Program Assistants
    • Support programs in ratio as needed
    • Assist with UAN and DWS site visits
    • Provide site coordinators with training and support to ensure that all UAN reports are complete and correct
    • Assist with transportation of participants and staff to and from field trips and other off-site activities
    • Assist site coordinators in improving ADA and enrollment or implementing goals and plans to improve
    • Ensure programs comply with state and local regulations
    • Ensure that all ASP program sites are supplied at all times and approve purchase orders of ASP staff
    • Assist the Summer Day Camp director with day camp structure and supplies for Weber and Davis day camps
    • Work with the Director, Assistant Director, and site coordinators to ensure goals are being created and achieved to consistently improve the ASP program, staff growth, and family and student experiences

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
    • Interest in and excited to work with youth in our community
    • Grant and report writing skills/experience
    • Experience with curriculum development
    • A communicative leader with the ability to help staff and programs grow and develop
    • 2-3 years’ experience with behavior management of youth in larger groups preferred but not required
    • Current Department of Child Care Licensing approved CPR/First Aid (must include infant/child certification). Obtained within 30 – 60 days of hire (YMCA paid)
    • Department of Child Care Licensing fingerprinting and background check. Completed prior to starting within programs.
    • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others
    • Experience with diverse populations, including speaking any language in addition to English, preferred
