Curriculum Manager manages the design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Oversees skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Manager consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Manager provides outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Participates in the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training. Establishes metrics used to evaluate training effectiveness and analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs. May select and manage vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Curriculum Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Curriculum Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Director of Curriculum and Assessment is responsible for developing, organizing, and directing the overall operation and management of assigned content areas, curriculum, assessment, supervision and evaluation programs, instructional programs, and educational technology. This position requires the ability to assume responsibility, work effectively, and independently under pressure and maintain high-levels of confidentiality. This position assists with varied and complex projects and tasks involving superior judgment, discretion, and integrity. The person in this position will function as an instructional leader within the SU, pursue the goals of the SU’s Strategic Plan and the goals of the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee, and serve as Title IX coordinator for the SU. The person in this position must demonstrate an exceptional level of professionalism and tact. The person in this position must have the ability to read, analyze, draft, and interpret complex documents - including grant proposals - and the ability to communicate with a variety of people effectively both in written and oral form. Working directly with the Superintendent, this role supports the principals and teachers across the WSWSU. Core Responsibilities: Coordinates and evaluates curriculum, assessment, supplemental instructional programs, materials, and technology; Develops, maintains, and evaluates standards for all subject areas including internal assessments such as Standards-Based Report Cards and manages their transition and alignment to curriculum; Leads a comprehensive professional development program addressing curriculum, supplemental instructional materials, and the integration of educational technology for instructional staff; Writes grants to obtain funds for technology and targeted curriculum for WSWSU; Facilitates Administrative Team Meetings and Round Robins, visiting each school building in-person on a regular basis to provide support to principals; Coordinates a wide variety of projects, activities, and/or events on behalf of the Superintendent; Pursue the achievement of the WSWSU’s strategic plan and equity work; Coordinate school and Supervisory Union-wide school improvement efforts that focus on equitable and improved outcomes for all students; Establish and maintain community partnerships that support student learning opportunities and college level credits; Presents data regarding school report cards, curriculum, or surveys to the WSWSU Supervisory Board as appropriate; Promotes efficiencies by designing, defining, delivering, and supporting the implementation of educational technologies in support of classroom instruction through the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP); Leads SU in planning, developing, maintaining, and evaluating the SU’s curriculum and instruction; Coordinate, organize, perform duties dealing with instructional support, supervision, budgeting, investments, grants, and professional development; collaborate with instructional program leadership and is responsible for representing the best interests of the the preK-12 school programs; Provides direct supervision of staff responsible for curriculum and instruction development; Attends school board meetings, prepares reports related to curriculum and assessment for the school board as the Superintendent may request; Assists in the determination of types of programs to be used by the schools and reports on the status of SU programs and services at the request of the Superintendent; Collaborates with the Business Manager as assigned by the Superintendent on state and federal grant reports and grant applications; Assists building principals and directors in the development of a professional development strategy’ Works with the Superintendent and Directors on implementing the strategic planning for the SU; Keeps current in the developments of curriculum and instruction and furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion and MTSS in the SU educational program in collaboration with the Director of Student Services; Communicates the approved curriculum and assessment data to the SU staff, school boards, and community; Supports grade-level, department-level, or content specific coaches , and specialists; Participates in ad hoc committees of an academic nature at the direction of the Superintendent; Assists with the induction of new staff; Assumes a leadership role in the area of data analysis and interpretation to inform instruction and program decisions; Is considered the primary “go-to” resource for educators who are working to implement new programming, flesh out curricular standards, align assessments, develop learning progressions, etc.; Performs special assignments and other duties as determined by the Superintendent. Qualifications: Appropriate license or ability to get one; Masters degree in Education or a related field Demonstrated leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the development of professional learning; Experience in project management and facilitating change; Knowledge of Federal and State laws, rules and regulations regarding state and federal guidelines in the area of Curriculum and Instruction Experience and willing to learn Grant and Fiscal Management; Experience implementing high quality professional development for teachers and paraprofessionals; The ability to coordinate supervisory union-wide data, curriculum and assessment systems; Excellent interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills; Expert computer skills including proficiency at Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
