Curriculum Specialist designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. The Opportunity:
The Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment Specialist (CIA) will be responsible for coordinating the school curriculum in adherence to the Maryland State Department of Education requirements. The CIA will be responsible for assisting teachers in conducting assessments, case management for IEPs, and state assessment management. The CIA will ensure that research-based, best practices for students with autism and related disabilities will form the core of instruction in an individually designed, differentiated program that meets the needs of the students. In conjunction with the Administrative Head and Education Director the CIA may provide oversight to the school program’s Communities by monitoring curriculum, instruction, and assessments, to ensure compliance with MSDE learning goals, COMAR regulations, and Local School Systems.
