Curriculum Specialist designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     WHAT YOU’LL DO 

    The College Readiness Curriculum Manager is a network role that is integral to fulfilling our mission of preparing all scholars for college graduation and life success. The manager oversees curriculum creation, innovation, planning, and research for THA’s College Readiness Program. The College Readiness Curriculum Manager contributes to the design of the curriculum and works directly with seminar teachers, advisory leads, and other staff within the Network and schools to ensure quality curriculum and instruction practices are occurring throughout the organization. Other focuses of the Curriculum Manager are to coach the teachers instructing the seminar classes, developing and leading professional development pertaining to college readiness curriculum, analyzing data to provide solutions to challenges, and ensuring there is alignment with scope and sequences. The manager will collaborate with the Director of College Readiness and other internal and external persons to carry out the vision of an aligned curriculum from 5th to 12th grade.

    Core Responsibilities

    -Curriculum Creation & Revision: THA’s College Readiness Curriculum Manager will revise and create a scope and sequence for all 9th-12th seminar classes with daily lessons and resources to support the delivery of the content by teachers. The curriculum will follow THA’s vision for college readiness and national standards ensuring scholars are prepared for their pathways after high school graduation. The curriculum manager will evaluate, revise, and prepare advisory lessons for grades 5-12 that are specific to college and career readiness or interpersonal skills based on a current model utilized throughout the Network.  

    - Curriculum Implementation: THA’s College Readiness Curriculum Manager must go beyond curriculum creation and innovation with gathering input on lessons, analyzing data, and providing solutions to the curriculum challenge. This could include partnering both internally and externally to ensure that what is developed has effective results to prepare all scholars for their pathway after high school.  

    -Instructional Coaching: THA’s College Readiness Curriculum Manager will follow the THA coaching model to provide support to all seminar teachers and advisory leads to implement the college readiness curriculum. They will observe, provide feedback, and revisit classrooms to ensure instructional and curriculum expectations are occurring from week to week. This looks like weekly check-ins, observations, and creating professional development sessions.

    THE DETAILS

    Qualifications/Certifications

    -Bachelor’s degree required

    -2 years related experience required

    Experience

    -5 years of experience in curriculum development and instructional coaching is preferred

    -Deep knowledge of college readiness and career readiness

    -Ability to work with and through people to establish goals, objectives, and action plans

    A proven track record of developing successful instructional results is highly preferred

    -Prior experience in a school serving a similar population to THA’s is preferred 

    -Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred 

    Role

    -This role is year round (12 months), full-time, exempt. 

    -Reports to and is held accountable by the Director of College Readiness & Alumni Success

    -This position could require occasional evening and weekend hours 

    Compensation and Benefits
