Curriculum Specialist, Sr. designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist, Sr. consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist, Sr. writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager.     Job Description Summary

    Conducts laboratory analysis on foreign material (FM) incidents in Lamb Weston products and production processes. Operates lab instrumentation to identify FM and creates reports summarizing the analytical findings. Determines the risk of injury of FM by evaluating composition, size, sharpness, and hardness. Assists plants in root-cause analysis on FM incidents and corrective actions. Maintains the FM library including organizing and adding new materials to aid in the identification of FM. Develops processes to maintain the integrity of FM during shipping and receiving; works cross-functionally to create chain-of-custody procedures. Partners with the Corporate Quality department in prioritizing and responding to customer and consumer FM complaints; seeks to continually improve the process of responding to customer/consumer requests in a timely fashion.

    Job Description
    • Manage the process of receiving, triage, and identification of FM samples submitted to the lab.
    • Utilize lab instrumentation to analyze FM samples.
    • Use FT-IR spectroscopy, XRF spectroscopy, and light microscopy to identify FM.
    • Equipment calibration, maintenance, and testing of process materials.
    • Identify new lab instruments and techniques to aid in FM analysis.
    • Respond to customer complaints using Lamb Weston's complaint management system to provide Food Safety and Quality Managers a thorough investigation of FM incidents.
    • Provide technical assistance in FM incidents to:
    • Partner with plant personnel on root-cause analysis for FM incidents. Determine risk of injury of FM. Partner with plants and senior leadership to determine product dispositions for FM incidents.
    • Create reports of FM incidents, including trend analysis by product type, and production facility.
    • Continuously improve FM identification process to increase throughput and accuracy of sample analysis.
    • Develop competency in FM reduction practices and contribute to the development of FM reduction techniques.
    • Develop relationships with plant personnel and provide training for FM response at the manufacturing facilities.
    • Depending on experience level and interest, may conduct additional duties at the supervisor's discretion.


    Basic & Preferred Qualifications
    • This position requires a minimum of a BS degree in: Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Food Science, or related field. Analytical laboratory experience preferred.
    • Prefer candidates with experience in FT-IR spectroscopy, XRF spectroscopy, and light microscopy.
    • Ability to perform testing using laboratory instrumentation and chemical tests.
    • 2-5 years relevant work experience required, with vegetable or potato processing experience preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving skills: ability to interpret data sets.
    • Strong organizational skills as it relates to work environment, sample, and data management.
    • Excellent report writing skills.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Ability to effectively work in team and independent settings.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint. Programming experience and understanding of other software platforms a bonus.
    • Working knowledge of food production and process flow dynamics.
    • Experience using fundamental statistical and analytical tools.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong understanding of food safety. Experience with FDA-regulated food production facilities preferred.
    • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time and work in manufacturing environments.
