Customer Segment Manager is responsible for all customer segment group research including extracting customer data and analyzing profiles to determine market segment requirements. Develops targeted product offerings or marketing campaigns based on customer profiles. Being a Customer Segment Manager provides information to sales and marketing teams to assist in the promotion of the organization's goods and/or services. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Customer Segment Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Customer Segment Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Customer Segment Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for the development and growth of the architectural powder coatings market through approvals, marketing, and sales. He / She will have to meet an annual budget for sales, margin, and expenses. Sales skills, Technical expertise, moral conduct, and professionalism will be expected and continually evaluated. Applicants can be located anywhere withing the United States. This is not a regional or territorial position.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include the following:

    Sales Expertise:

    • This position must be able to build relationships with prospective customers.
    • This position must have excellent negotiating skills.
    • Must be able to use multiple communication methods effectively.
    • Must have very good presentations skills for internal strategies and customer engagement.
    • Understand and process the sales cycle for long- and short-term projects.
    • The person must be knowledgeable about competitors, knowing their strengths and weakness.
    • This position must have excellent verbal communication skills.
    • This position must be willing to find new prospects using multiple sources.
    • This position must be able to work closely with Customer Service, Operations, Research and Development Labs, Regional Managers and upper Management within Vitracoat.
    • This person must be an expert at developing and executing a plan to gain business from targeted prospects.
    • This person must have excellent presentation skills.

    Technical Expertise;

    • This position requires an understanding of the architectural marketplace.
    • Must have an understanding of AAMA and the coating performance required.
    • Must have a working understanding of Qualicoat.
    • The person must be willing to quickly learn how to determine the right powder coating solution for any given opportunity.
    • The position must understand the chemistries, available and the benefits and weakness of each one.
    • Have the ability to work with a developmental lab and create products for the architectural marketplace for today as well as tomorrow innovation.
    • This person must be able to write a technical audit report.
    • This position must use input from multiple sources to develop the best and most practical approach to the market.
    • This position must have a proven track record with the selling process.
    • This position may be required to participate in industry shows.
    • Effective use of technical support people for territory.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Extensive travel may be required for this position.
    • Development of short-, medium-, and long-term strategic market plan.
    • Join market specific associations and participate on committees.
    • Complete expense reports for business travel in a timely and complete manner.
    • Gather information as needed to complete LWR’s as needed to grow business.
    • Traveling to Vitracoat’s corporate office in Mexico may be required.
    • Working in a team environment being respectful and professional with all Vitracoat employees.
    • Network to help grow business in territory.
    • Meet annual sales targets.
    • Stay within budgeted expenses for business travel and entertainment.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    While this position will not start with any direct reports, he/she must be willing to train, mentor and/or support all members of the sales and marketing team to optimize effort and focus on achieving business sales and profit goals.


    COMMISION AND/OR BONUS PROGRAM

    This position will have a commission or bonus program associated with it to drive business goals.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    Teamwork skills will be very important aspects of this job with an emphasis on his/her ability to communicate both orally and written.

    Education and/or Experience
    High School education is a must. A four (4) year chemistry, marketing or business degree is a plus. However, this person must have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in sales and experience coatings, specifically powder coatings is a plus.

    • The ability to manage multiple projects is a must.
    • Organizational skills essential.
    • Must have experience working and selling in the Architectural marketplace.
    • Communications skills both oral and written will be of significant importance.
    • The ability to travel.
    • Experience and proficient use of all Microsoft Office programs, Adobe, Apple Products with the ability to work with new software as needed.
    • Knowledge of the coatings marketplace, especially powder coatings.
    • Knowledge of the powder coating process.
    • Proven Sales Track Record.
    • The ability to work independently.
    • Excellent computer skills.
