TITLE: Coordinator for Academic Support and Transition Services

JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Success Center at KSU serves all students to provide seamless, robust, focused, and comprehensive educational support. In addition to providing students with comprehensive services, managing the university tutoring program's current programs, and tracking students' academic progress, the coordinator helps students with academic support and transition services. This position is in charge of planning, coordinating, and organizing various Center programs and activities to help students achieve their educational objectives. Additionally, the Coordinator may provide instruction for KSU seminar courses and assist with retention programming efforts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Academic Support
- Manage the campus learning center, including recruitment, hiring, training, and facilitation of the peer tutoring program.
- Provide individual and group tutoring to students, including but not limited to subject-specific information, study skills, and college success strategies.
- Advertise academic support services to instructors and students via classroom visits, campus activities, flyers, emails, and other digital and print mediums.
- Coordinate faculty requests for course-specific instructional support, including one-on-one referrals, small-group sessions, in-class presentations, and supplemental instruction sessions.
- Maintain records, documentation, and area budget.
Transitional Support
- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of all first-year, second-year, and transitional programs to help students to acclimate to campus and college life, such as workshops, seminars, and peer mentoring initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other campus departments to integrate transitional initiatives into the broader institutional framework.
- Create opportunities for students to get involved in campus life through clubs, organizations, and events which foster community and connection.
- Plan, create, and implement seminars and activities that enhance learning and empower students to become active, engaged learners.
- Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of the effectiveness of programs to make data-driven improvements.
Testing Coordination
- Carries out test administration, proctoring, scoring, and communication for the university.
- Maintain testing records such as the number of people tested, the number of tests given, and the type of tests supplied. Publish reports on a regular and annual basis.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Carries out test administration, proctoring, scoring, and communication for the university.
- Maintain testing records such as the number of people tested, the number of tests given, and the type of tests supplied, Publish reports on a regular and annual basis,
- Maintain current knowledge of student development theories, best practices in n testing, transition services, and relevant institutional policies or programs.
- Represent the Center for Student Success at open houses, admission events, and other functions as necessary.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree (preferred)
- 1-2 years’ experience working in Higher Education
Licensing and Certifications: NA
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior and/or office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk
