    Job Description




    Who We Are: The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems. This position is with the Office of Retirement Services (ORS) area of DTMB.

Must be organized, with good time management skills and know the importance of a timeline. We want someone who is reliable, honest and who keeps their commitments to colleagues and clients. We need someone who can seek effective solutions to help resolve problems in a timely manner.


    About The Position:
    This position analyzes need and develops member outreach activities of the Customer Service Center to ensure customer satisfaction. Develop and implement initiatives to promote member education and service. Provide advice and expertise to supervisors & management of the team within the section to maintain and improve quality and quantity of services provided to our active and retired members. Research issues with high customer service or efficiency impact on the section and propose solutions.


    Position Location/Remote Office:
    The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education for Departmental Analyst 9-12
    Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

    Departmental Analyst 10
    One year of professional experience.

    Departmental Analyst P11
    Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

    Departmental Analyst 12
    Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

    Education and Experience for Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (FOR CLASSIFIED STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY)

    Education
    Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

    Experience
    Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

    OR

    Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

    OR

    Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.

    OR

    Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

    OR

    One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

    • Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate's degree or two years of college.

    Educational Substitution
    College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

    Alternate Education and Experience

    Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee 9) 9 - 12
    Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.

    Tuition Reduction: Some colleges and universities offer savings to eligible employees and family members to further their education while working for the State of Michigan.

    Professional Development: To help develop your career, programs are available to apply for reimbursement of up to $2,000 a year for education and training for college course credits and non-degree programs.
