Data Center Director directs and optimizes all operations of a data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security. Designs operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems within a data center to maximize operational efficiency. Being a Data Center Director monitors environmental conditions to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and power supply to prevent downtime and protect hardware from damage. Ensures timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients. Additionally, Data Center Director coordinates with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Center Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Data Center Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Technical Director - Data Center Solutions Architecture

    THE ROLE:

    AMD is searching for a Technical Director to set and drive future solutions level vision and technical requirements for AMDs Data Center Solutions Group (DSG). Individual will lead a team of seasoned solutions architects spanning node level to rack level design, from BIOS and security to cloud native cloud computing, from memory technologies to high performance fabrics, to Server/Storage, Cloud, full application stack, and more. The DSG Architecture and Strategy team goal is to inform and influence AMDs leading SOCs, optimized for the vision of the future, via collaboration with internal stakeholders, customers, end users, and strategic partners.

    THE PERSON:

    Ideal candidates will have broad and deep system technology backgrounds, experience developing, influencing, and collaborating on strategy. Ability to translate workload/application trends to system and SOC implications across the entire HW and SW stack.

    • Ability to translate highly technical concepts into actionable plans.
    • Ability to drive hands on proof of concepts to collect data and facts.
    • Exceptional communication skills to address multiple internal and external stakeholders.
    • Skill in analyzing tradeoffs and making analytical, fact-based recommendations that have substantial technical, business, and financial impacts.
    • Ability to guide product definition using credible insights developed by interacting with end customers, ISVs/IHVs, and strategic partners.
    • Ability to build relationships with strategic customers and partners to ensure that AMD datacenter products are built to match the evolving needs of the market.
    • Collaboration skills to engage a team of engineering, product management and business development professionals to achieve outstanding business results.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Drive workload and application-level strategies internally and with industry partners / ecosystem.
    • Partner with SoC design teams and product management in providing a unified and clear platform / system level vision to influence AMDs SoC roadmap.
    • Drive reference platform requirements and partner with engineering on balance of internal / external execution.
    • Represent AMD datacenter system level vision in industry consortiums, events and strategic partnerships.
    • Work with OEMs, end customers, ISV/IHV partners to drive workload and use case plans that facilitate joint roadmap definition.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Desired candidates will have experience in some of the areas below:
      • Modern application development and profiling
      • AI, HPC, AI, HCI, Big data, Data base, Cloud, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS...
      • K8S, Cloud native, AI frameworks, HPC stacks, OpenSource
      • Modern programming languages, scripting, tools, compilers
      • Operating systems, device drivers, virtualization
      • Experience leading and building a technical team.

    ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

    • BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
