We are seeking a talented individual to join our Data Strategy team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in New York, NY; Boston, MA or Philadelphia, PA. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
The Data Strategy team aims to cultivate and build on the data assets across all functions and lines of business globally across Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance brokerage of Marsh McLennan. The Product Management role specializes in leading customer engagement, solution design, and project coordination for data products. In partnership with technical leads, this position directs multi-disciplinary teams from data engineers to data scientists responsible for delivering a direct impact to colleagues and clients.
We'll count on you to:
Break down customer problems - You can formulate problem statements and deeply understand customer goals - the root of a problem, not the symptoms. You have a mastery of product discovery and user research.
Build business cases - You can size problems, establish and track KPIs for your products’ success, and prove the business impact of the products and features you build.
Design solutions - You can design iterative with hypotheses and informed decision-making at each iteration of product development.
Create strategic long-term vision - You have the capacity to think about the evolution of your product, new technologies, and market changes on the horizon.
Mentor junior product managers and product analysts - You can ensure smooth transition of solutions into tactical backlog tickets without confusion or re-work. You can develop junior colleagues to step into more strategic roles.
Interface with key stakeholders and executives - You can prepare and deliver high-quality presentations tailored to specific audiences.
What you need to have:
Successful shipment of at least 3 major new products or product lines from inception to market with proven market results
5 years of product management or business analyst work experience in data products
Ability to conduct exploratory data analysis and provide deep understanding of our business with conclusions and recommendations that show a high level of critical thinking
Proficiency in some or all: Excel, SQL, API requests, and basic scripting in Python or R

Strong understanding of modern data trends & principles (Machine Learning, AI, Natural Language, Crowd-Sourcing, Unstructured Data, Data Mining, Visualization) and the accompanying technology tooling ecosystem & vendor landscape
Experience on a high-performing data team at a technology, consulting, or start-up company
Insurance knowledge or strong interest in building insurance domain knowledge
A degree or deep expertise in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physics

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $82,400 to $158,300.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
