The Environmental, Health, Safety & Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that WOW adheres to environmental regulations, maintains safe working conditions, and promotes health and wellness among team members.
What you’ll be doing:
- Environmental Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Develop and implement environmental management programs to reduce the company's environmental impact.
- Conduct environmental assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Safety and Health Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety and health policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety and health inspections and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events, and recommend corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of safety and wellness within the organization.
- Training and Education:
- Provide training and education to employees on safety, health, and environmental best practices.
- Develop and deliver safety and environmental training programs.
- Keep team members informed about changes in regulations and industry standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of safety, health, and environmental incidents and activities.
- Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
- Track and analyze safety and environmental performance metrics.
- Compliance Audits:
- Conduct regular compliance audits to assess adherence to regulations and standards.
- Identify non-compliance issues and work with relevant departments to rectify them.
- Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as chemical spills or natural disasters.
- Coordinate emergency drills and training exercises.
- Environmental Sustainability:
- Promote sustainability initiatives within the organization, such as energy conservation and waste reduction.
- Identify opportunities for environmentally responsible practices and cost savings.
Skills we are looking for:
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, safety standards, and health guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret data related to safety and environmental performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with team members, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Problem-solving skills to address compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Familiarity with industry-specific requirements.
Qualifications to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related field. Industry experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have a current driver’s license.
