The Database Services team at the University of Notre Dame, within the Office of Information Technologies (OIT), is looking for a new database administrator.
The Database Services team supports a variety of enterprise database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL running on Windows and Linux. They ensure a secure, up-to-date, and stable environment for our campus customers. There are daily opportunities to innovate, learn new tools and systems, and collaborate with other teams to develop solutions with a meaningful impact on the University. On a day-to-day basis, the team has their fingers in databases, scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, and Python, Amazon Web Services tools, and middle-tier technologies like Tomcat.

Responsibilities
- Database server installations, maintenance, performance monitoring, and tuning activities.
- Database backup, disaster recovery planning, documentation, and testing.
- Assisting software development and support teams to streamline product implementations, design, and processes.
- Helping to establish standards and best practices for database design.
- Discovering and implementing automation opportunities to replace manual processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- At least 3 years experience in Information Technology.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with database administration in multiple database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and/or Oracle.
- Experience working on commercial enterprise-level systems with a relational database back-end.
- Working knowledge of and experience with Linux or Windows systems administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with configuration management and orchestration tools (Ansible, Cloud Formation).
