Database Administration Manager manages the administration of an organization's database. Analyzes the organization's database needs and develops a long-term strategy for data storage. Being a Database Administration Manager establishes policies and procedures related to data security and integrity and monitors and limits database access as needed. Oversees the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems that manage an internal database. Additionally, Database Administration Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Database Administration Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Database Administration Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Ohio Department of Taxation’s Information Services Division is seeking up to two (2) Database Administration Specialist Pilots.

    What You’ll do as an Database Administration Specialist Pilot

    This role is the will serve to provide the department with database strategies and database support. Some additional duties of this position include:
      • Designing and implementing high availability solutions

      • Design and plan out cluster nodes and interconnects
      • Define the data warehouse intelligence design

      • Conduct performance tunning of department systems

    Qualifications

    • 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: database administration providing Tier I support to information system users and/or IT staff, assisting with data modeling and conducting performance tuning and configuration including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

    • Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: database administration providing Tier I support to information system users and/or IT staff, assisting with data modeling and conducting performance tuning and configuration including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

    • Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: database administration providing Tier I support to information system users and/or IT staff, assisting with data modeling and conducting performance tuning and configuration including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

    • Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
