Summary:
DBA/PowerBI Report Writer is primarily responsible for analyzing business data requests, designing SQL queries and/or stored procedures to return the desired results and utilize PowerBI to generate reports.
This position relies heavily on the ability to quickly assimilate a complex, enterprise-wide data model and produce efficient and accurate query results for the business successful operational needs. The successful candidate must possess strong SQL query knowledge as well as sound organizational and troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of company business systems, available technologies, and a clear understanding of the company’s business model and associated business rules. Primary tasks include applying business analysis techniques, formulating efficient SQL queries, testing, database administration, and championing user acceptance of solutions. The Database Administrator/PowerBI Report Writer will work closely with the business units to fully understand the requirements and subsequently deliver accurate and timely result analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- 40% DBA/SQL/ETL, 40% PowerBI Report Writing, 15% R&D, 5% Project Management
- Responsible for production databases. Proficient in managing and maintaining SQLSVR databases, ETL Process and optimizing SQL.
- Understand initial requirements using business user interviews and database analysis. Provide analysis feedback to the user community to ascertain the correctness of your understanding. Work independently, with IT Management and end-users to refine data requests.
- Strong analytical and database assimilation skills are required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret end-user business needs and translate them into efficient and accurate data request results.
- Design and develop impactful reports using Microsoft PowerBI platform
- Program and design layout of reports and determine the best way to present data to end-users
- Prepare required documentation
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Work closely with project managers

Qualifications:
- One to three years of report development experience using reporting platform such as Microsoft Reporting Services or PowerBI is desirable; At least one year of development work in PowerBI is desired.
- Three years of writing complicated yet efficient SQL for relational database such as Microsoft SQL Server is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the enthusiasm to learn the inner workings of a large complex system
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to effectively work in a dynamic environment
- Highly organized and results-driven with ability to take initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast paced changing environment
