Job Description
The CCS Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Clinical Chemistry Service, organizationally located within Histopathology Sciences of Scientific Services. This includes:
Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Clinical Chemistry Service, tasking staff and monitoring workflow, while maintaining a safe work environment.
Providing services by carrying out chemical, hematological and hormone analyses using CCS equipment. The CCS Manager provides consultation services, develops and implements protocols to support user needs, ensuring execution of and adherence to established SOPs and QA standards. The CCS Manager also provide results and data interpretation as needed.
The administrative and financial oversight of CCS. This includes preparing the annual operating budget; it may be necessary to meet with the Financial Analyst to develop new pricing. Maintain a Five Year Capital plan for new instrumentation; evaluate and purchase capital equipment. Prepare documents and reports as required. This may include contributions to research grants and other publications.
Communicate with users regularly with regard to service updates, changes and other relevant information-using phone, email, virtual meetings, in-person meetings and other formats as appropriate.
The CCS Manager reports to the Associate Director of Histopathology Sciences. The CCS Manager has daily contact with many groups within JAX, including JAX faculty and research staff, other core facilities, the Diagnostic and Pathology Labs as well as Project
Managers and Directors within JAX Mice, Clinical and Research Services (JMCRS).
