Dean of Communications manages administrative functions of the college of communications. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Communications leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Communications requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Communications manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Communications typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Qualification:

    • Master's degree in K-12 education or closely related field. Administrative certification and/or additional coursework beyond the Master's preferred.
    • Minimum of three years of successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision, and/or administration.
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and human relations skills.
    • Experience in effectively working with staff, parents, and students.
    • Philosophical compatibility with the stated Mission and vision of the school.
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate.

     

    Reports to: Principal 

     

    Supervises: Hall monitors, Grade Chairs, Teachers, and Support staff.

    Duties and responsibilities: 

    • The development, implementation, and evaluation of a clear, consistent, and effective student code of conduct.
    • Administer EdClick web service
    • Prepares and monitors the duty schedule. 
    • Prepare the VADIR report.
    • Serve as Coordinator for the safety team, plan and implement safety drills.
    • Plan and coordinate the supervision of breakfast and lunches. 
    • Plan, coordinate and implement intervention plans for students.
    • Supervise and implement student contracts, detention, suspension and expulsion processes. 
    • Monitors student attendance, prepares monthly reports, and works with the Administrative Assistant, school social worker with truancy issues.
    • Provides supervision of students during non-instructional hours and at after-school functions such as athletic contests and school-wide events.
    • Conducts parent/student and parent/teacher conferences as appropriate
    • Assists in the planning and assessment of programs and activities, including field trips.
    • Assists with the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of support staff.
