Dean of Continuing Education manages administrative functions of the college of continuing education. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Continuing Education leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Continuing Education requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Continuing Education manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Continuing Education typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.       The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a public Career and Technical Education District (CTED) providing tuition-free career and technical education (CTE) programs to high school students – public, charter, and home-schooled – and tuition-based programs to adults who reside in 11 school districts in the East Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

      EVIT offers over 40 CTE programs at four centralized campuses. Centralized campus programs provide two to four hours of hands-on training every day and prepare students for professional certification and licensing exams. EVIT students who complete their training have a 98 percent high school graduation rate and 90 percent on average are in jobs related to their training, college or the military within a year. Two out of three EVIT students go on to college.

      Applications are being accepted for the position of Dean of Students with the East Valley Institute of Technology. The starting date is contingent upon completing the required fingerprint card and completeing the onboarding process. The beginning annual salary range for this position is approximately $48,545 - $69,000 based on a combination of education and experience. This is a 12 month, full time position.

      Job Summary:
      The Dean of Students leads the school’s efforts to create a positive, results-oriented school culture for high school and adult learners. This position is a visible presence at both campuses providing proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the student’s academic achievement, and personal and social development. A successful Dean of Students is passionate about supporting our students, adapts to changes and cultivates productive relationships with all members of the school community, including faculty, students and families.


      Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, and
      • Minimum of three years of successful leadership experience as a dean of students, overseeing student affairs, higher education experience, assistant principal, or
      • CTE Director at an accredited secondary institution or equivalent leadership experience from an accredited post-secondary institution, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, experience and abilities
      Licensing /Certification and Other Requirements:
      • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Prints (IVP) fingerprint card.
      • Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.

      ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
