Dean of Continuing Education manages administrative functions of the college of continuing education. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Continuing Education leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Continuing Education requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management.     Primary Function of Organizational Unit
    The Office of Research, Economic Development, and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration, and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU. REDE leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. REDE directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Research Administration, Office of Engaged Research, Office of Research Development, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Undergraduate Research, Office of Research and Innovation Campus Development, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Licensing and Commercialization, Office of National Security and Industry Initiatives, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Compliance Monitoring, and the Small Business and Technology Development Center.

    The Office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE), a unit within Research, Economic Development, and Engagement, builds bridges between East Carolina University and the public by providing access to non-curricular professional development resources that engage, educate, and expand learning opportunities. The focus of the office is to provide high-quality non-credit professional development to businesses, industry, the military, public sector organizations, and other entities for developing a suite of offerings that advance regional transformation and economic development opportunities in eastern North Carolina and other regions.
    Job Duties
    The Office of Continuing and Professional Education, a unit within Research, Economic Development and Engagement is seeking applications for short-term Instructional Consultants (.74FTE or less) to lead one or more non-credit courses during the year. The Instructional Consultant will develop and/or deliver noncredit continuing education courses. This includes but is not limited to: coordination of course materials, content delivery, collecting attendance sign-in sheets and providing evaluation surveys, providing a copy of the course agenda and course materials 7 days before the course starts.

    Contingent upon the availability of funds.

    Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a field related to the course subject matter. All degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
