Dean of Dentistry manages administrative functions of the college of dentistry. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Dentistry leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Dentistry requires an advanced degree of dentistry. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Dentistry manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Overview:
We are looking for a dental assistant able to start on June 1st, 2024. The position is Monday-Thursday, to assist Dr Michael P Waters.
The practice has two locations.
Monday and Wednesday
Tuesday and Thursday
This is a low-tech practice with paper charts, so no computer proficiency is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
- Take and develop dental X-rays
- Perform aseptic techniques and maintain infection control protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical history as needed
- Provide chairside assistance during procedures, including passing instruments and materials to the dentist
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care
- Perform basic dental laboratory tasks, such as pouring impressions and fabricating temporary crowns
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Take and record vital signs as necessary for patient assessment
Skills:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and maintaining X-ray equipment
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry
- Strong dental assisting skills, including chairside assisting, instrument passing, and material handling
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to accurately take and record vital signs for patient assessment
