Dean of Dentistry manages administrative functions of the college of dentistry. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Dentistry leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Dentistry requires an advanced degree of dentistry. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Dentistry manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Dentistry typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Position Summary:

    St. Petersburg College is in search of a new Dean for the College of Nursing. Located on the West Central coast of Florida, St. Petersburg College is part of the Florida State College System serving over 45,000 students each year at learning sites throughout Pinellas County. It boasts one of the largest online programs in the country and ranks as one of the Best Overall Online Bachelor's Programs, and Online Bachelor's Programs for Veterans by U.S. News and World Reports.

    The College of Nursing (CON) at St. Petersburg College (SPC) offers two nursing programs, a nursing associate in science (AS) degree for pre-licensure students and a bachelor of science in nursing degree for registered nurses returning to school (RN-BSN). Initial National League for Nursing accreditation was obtained in December 1970. Continuous accreditation for the nursing AS program has been maintained since that time through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. SPC's AS Nursing program is one of the largest in Florida, the student pass rate on the NCLEX is consistently above 90% and is one of the highest in the state. The RN-BSN program received initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education in April 2007 and was reaccredited in 2022, and is nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Reports. Since 2020 the CON was annually awarded "The Best Local College" and the "Best Nursing College" designation by the 'Best of the Best People's Choice Award' sponsored by our major metro newspaper, Tampa Bay Times.

    The classification is responsible for directing the activities of multiple programs or College-wide functions. Incumbents will be responsible for developing the strategic direction of assigned areas, interpreting the broadly defined goals, developing and managing a budget, and providing managerial direction to employees.

    Requirements:

    Education:

    Master's degree in Nursin. Doctorate strongly preferred.

    Experience:

    Five years (5) of management experience in assigned area. A distinguished record of teaching and service in a college or university or senior-level management experience in industry. A demonstrated strong commitment to enhancing and serving the whole community and building a culturally competent teaching and learning community. Publications and recognitions in professional societies and in the field of work; demonstrated success in the acquisition of external funding and development of community relationships. Experience in management in a professional environment including planning, budgeting, team building, problem solving and project management. Proven record of professional accomplishments and effective leadership. Demonstrated success in attaining and/or maintaining accredidation for nursing education programs.
