Dean of Graduate Programs manages administrative functions of the graduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Graduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Graduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Graduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Graduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    Nursing faculty are responsible for engaging in the full scope of the academic nurse educator role. These responsibilities include facilitate learning and learner development; use assessment and evaluation strategies; participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; evaluation of program outcomes; ongoing development of the nurse educator role; engage in scholarship; develop and function as a leader and change agent; and function within the educational environment. This role must be fulfilled in accordance with rules and regulations of the state and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies.

    What you will do in this role:

    • Effectively facilitate learning and learner development by
    • Creating an environment that facilitates students’ learning and achievement of desired student learning and program outcomes.
    • Implements a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content, and context.
    • Uses information technologies and eLearning technology to support the teaching-learning process. Provides resources to students that help meet their individual learning needs.
    • Serves as a role model of professional nursing.
    • Uses a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in all settings (classroom, lab, or clinical) and all domains (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) of learning.
    • Uses a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in all settings (classroom, lab, or clinical) and all domains (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) of learning.
    • Designs and implements program assessments that promote continuous quality improvement of all aspects of the program.
    • Uses the systematic plan for evaluation (SPE) to evaluate student and graduates’ achievement of the PSLOs, program outcomes, and role-specific graduate competencies of the nursing education unit, and the accreditation standards and criteria.
    • Continuously develops in the academic educator role by participating in professional development activities that increase socialization and effectiveness of the faculty role.
    • Functions as change agent and leader.
    • Act as a mentor to new faculty, as assigned.

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Active, Current, Unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in this state.
    • Minimum of a Doctorate of Science in Nursing (DNP) Degree.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse and per State Board of Nursing
    • Minimum of two (2) years of online teaching experience
    • Day, evening, or weekend classes may be assigned to Faculty as needed to accommodate student or College needs.


    Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment: If performing nursing duties related to clinical instruction (especially patient contact) hazards may include needle sticks, blood and bodily fluid exposure, or any other hazard a Registered Nurse (RN) might be exposed to in the normal performance of nursing care. Position requires mental activity, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Physical demands in the classroom and office are minimal and are considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying such articles as records, files, and books (10 pounds maximum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner occurs on a frequent basis. Physical demands in the clinical area may include lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, or any other related activity to patient care. Position requires regular attendance, and may require evening or weekend hours, and travel to clinical sites and extended classrooms.
