Dean of Humanities manages administrative functions of the college of humanities. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Humanities leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Humanities requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Humanities manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Humanities typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • Please apply online at SAU39.org Position: Domain Leader, Humanities  Contract Period: 11 months, 210 days Reports To: Principal Supervises: Humanities teachers in grades 9-12 Position Goal: The Humanities Domain Leader provides visionary leadership to a dynamic team of educators through the coordination, supervision and support of Humanities teachers in grades 9–12 at Souhegan High School. Working closely with the Dean of Faculty, the Humanities Domain Leader is dedicated to fostering a curriculum that not only meets academic standards but also inspires critical thinking, creativity, and a love for the humanities. They strive to create an inclusive and innovative teaching and learning environment, promoting professional growth among faculty members and ensuring the humanities department contributes significantly to the overall educational excellence of the school. Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Education or equivalent Licensure/Certification Requirements:   NH Certified or eligible English 5-12 (0500) or Social Studies 5-12 (1500) and Administrative Certification as a Curriculum Administrator (0008), Assistant Principal (9998)/Associate Principal (0007) or Principal (0003) Experience and Required Skills:  Minimum of 5 years of experience as an English or social studies teacher or instructor in a similar field Other Preferred Skills and Considerations: Previous experience in an educational leadership role  Experience with competency-based instruction and assessment A commitment to student agency, and a democratic school  Ability to plan and manage projects Commitment to inclusion and heterogeneity Strong interpersonal and communication skills Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues Knowledge of Special Education policy and practices Familiarity with NH Administrative Rules and Regulations Evaluation:  Performance of position responsibilities will be evaluated annually in accordance with the approved administrative procedure for staff evaluation General Duties: Lead the Humanities department by overseeing curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. Provide guidance and support to humanities teachers, fostering a collaborative and engaging teaching environment. Coordinate with other instructional leaders to ensure interdisciplinary connections and a cohesive educational experience. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional strategies within the humanities curriculum. Facilitate professional development opportunities for department faculty, promoting continuous improvement. Collaborate with school administration to align the humanities curriculum with educational goals and standards Collaborate with school administration in planning and facilitating professional learning opportunities and school-wide initiatives and events Teach two classes a semester Supervise humanities staff by conducting observations, providing coaching support, recommending improvement plans and or non-renewal when needed Lead the Humanities budget process Work closely with building administration to ensure the successful scheduling of appropriate Humanities course offerings as it relates to the master schedule. Support professional development initiatives faculty members, ensuring continuous growth and alignment with educational goals. Address and resolve humanities-related issues, promoting a positive and supportive school environment.
