Dean of Law jobs in Elkhart, IN
Dean of Law manages administrative functions of the college of law. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Law leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Law requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Law manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Law typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing legal research, interpreting case law, and drafting complex legal orders and opinions.JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- JD degree from accredited law school and must be an Indiana lawyer or scheduled to take the Indiana Bar examination; prior clerk experience a plus
- WRITING SAMPLES MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION AND RESUME
- Thorough knowledge of legal website resources and the Indiana Code
- Excellent organizational and communications skills and a sound knowledge of office procedures/practices
- Strong academic credentials
- Valid driver’s license
- Pre-employment background check and drug screen
