Dean of Mathematics jobs in Moline, IL

Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Provide academic instruction on a non-permanent basis in a manner consistent with division standards, expectations, and course objectiveMeet with assigned class(es) at all scheduled times/locations and provide instruction necessary for fulfilling course objectives. Notify Dean/Associate Dean in the event a class meeting is canceled or changed. Prepare and distribute to students course syllabi that are consistent with the official course brief for each class. The syllabi should be sufficiently detailed so as to inform each student about policies concerning attendance, evaluation and expected performance. Submit all required documents such as midterm lists and final grades in a timely manner. Maintain student attendance records and submit them to the Dean/Associate Dean at the end of each course. Employ a well-defined procedure for evaluating student progress. Enforce College regulations concerning student behavior and building regulations. Other duties as assigned.Master's Degree in appropriate subject matter is required. The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, sex, or race.The specific motor skills and sensory perception necessary to effectively instruct and evaluate students is based on the content, instructional methods, and objectives of the course(s) taught.
