Dean of Nursing manages administrative functions of the college of nursing. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Nursing leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Nursing requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires certification as a registered nurse. The Dean of Nursing manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. - Oversee and manage all aspects of nursing operations within the organization
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care
- Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, including training and development

- Monitor and evaluate nursing performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of practice
- Participate in strategic planning and goal setting for the nursing department
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other departments
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and hospice care systems
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Proficient in shift management and scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience in home health or similar healthcare settings is preferred
