Dean of Sciences manages administrative functions of the college of science. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Sciences leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Sciences requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Sciences manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Sciences typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Qualifications

    • Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
    • Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized behavior interventions intended to change behaviors; using evidence based strategies
    • Collect data regarding scholar behaviors 
    • Recommend appropriate modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in scholars. 
    • Identify and implement appropriate interventions for scholars in need of additional assistance
    • Develop the skills and self-esteem necessary for identified scholars to exercise meaningful options in areas of school, leisure, and inter/intra personal relationships
    • Provide support to scholars who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and impaired social skills
    • The ability to develop caring relationships with scholars and families
    • Strong work ethic
    • Dedicated to teaching, perseverance
    • Capable of engaging scholars
    • Excellent communication, superior listening skills, organizational skills, and decision-making ability
    • Impeccable and positive classroom behavior management
    • Ability to adapt material and curriculum to fit classroom/scholar needs

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work in an environment with an above average level of noise
    • Some nights and weekends, as required


    Essential Functions

    • Build strong relationships with scholars, families, administrators, and PATH team members
    • Direct, coordinate, and teach curriculum consistently with school initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
    • Display an understanding of The PATH School vision, mission and core values.
    • Explore resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
    • Use data to improve instruction.
    • Plan, pace, differentiate, and select the best practices to meet the needs of all scholars.
    • Plan and prepare lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
    • Encourage and cultivate the social and emotional growth of all scholars.  
    • Develop lesson plans and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures.
    • Establish and communicate clear standards and objectives for all learning activities.
    • Integrate technology into the instructional program.
    • Instruct and monitor scholars in the use of learning materials and equipment.
    • Prepares classroom for class activities.
    • Use a variety of instructional methodologies, culturally responsive pedagogy and curriculum resources to present material in an engaging, stimulating and effective manner.
    • Observe and evaluate scholars’ performance and development.
    • Assign and grade class work, homework, and assessments.
    • Manage scholar behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
    • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of scholars’ progress and development.
    • Communicate necessary information regularly to scholars, colleagues and parents regarding scholar progress and scholar needs.
