Dean of Sciences manages administrative functions of the college of science. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Sciences leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Additionally, Dean of Sciences requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Sciences manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Sciences typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Athletic Dean


    Reports to: Director of Athletics Job Status: 12-month, full time exempt

    Compensation Information: Salary range $100,000 - $130,000, commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for
    benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan with school match, higher
    education tuition reimbursement, and tuition discount of 50% off base tuition for each dependent child or legal guardian
    designated child who attends JSerra.

    Description: The Athletic Dean will work to serve as a bridge between the academic and athletic sides of campus. This
    person will be the liaison for communicating all current and new policies developed on either side. This athletic
    administrator will be the primary supervisor of all student athletes while on the south side of campus. The person in this
    role will supervise the academic development of student athletes as needed. He/she will act as the physical education
    department chair and supervise all other curriculum development on the south side and will be responsible for the
    mentoring and evaluations of all athletic department faculty.

    Responsibilities:

    • Primary supervisor of all student athlete’s behavior and comings/goings from north to south campus 
    Carries out daily parking patrol during 6th and 7th period
    • Primary communicator with coaches on all polices including culture and dress code 
    Provide ½ day Inservice to all physical education teachers in August prior to the

    commencement of school. 
    Work 2 weeks of summer camp to initiate incoming student athletes with CIF rules and JSerra

    code of conduct 
    Must to available to attend all new parent meetings for each sport program

    • Physical education chair representative at all Planning Council and Faculty meetings
    • Must attend and present at monthly head coaches meetings
    • Assist in the implementation and creation of any new academic or athletic policies and initiatives 

    Attend ARC meetings four times a year for academic review of student athletes 
    Serve on the SIT committee

    • Must serve as an athletic administrator in fall/spring to country club sports
    • Must serve as primary supervisor over student section at all Friday night lights games
    • Oversight, creation and distribution of the D F list for student athletes
    • Academic coaching supervisor for all student athlete weekly study halls
    • Must implement all student athlete and coaches evaluations for 28 sports
    • Collect and submit all scholar athlete awards (JSerra, CIF, OCADA, SCYR, ADHSL)
    • Participates in the overall administration of the tutoring program, to include assistance with budget

    preparation, provision of input into operating policies and procedures, and participation in performance
    evaluation of tutorial staff

    • Communicates with JSerra administration/faculty to ensure students gain access to appropriate and
    reasonable accommodations to support success within the classroom, where applicable
    • Maintains and updates confidential files and records pertaining to student academic and life-skills
    interactions, incidents, issues and progress

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred

    • Current in certifications as required by JSerra
    • Follow professional guidelines set forth in JSerra Handbook


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an
    employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to perform occasional
    light lifting and carrying; occasional standing and walking; and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Occasional hand use
    and finger dexterity needed to use computer keyboard and operate standard office equipment; occasional pushing, pulling,
    grasping, and reaching may also be required. Good hearing is required when communicating on the telephone or in person.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in indoor and outdoor environments; travel from site to site;
    frequently works around athletic playing fields; exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, blood borne
    pathogens and bodily fluids. Occasional exposure to risks controlled by safety precautions.

    his/her employment with the School for any reason at any time, with or without notice. Likewise, the School may end

    with Employee providing for employment other than at-will. With the exception of this employment “at-will” provision and
