Cantata Bio is an EdenRoc Sciences startup company based in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. We are developing cutting-edge technologies for vastly improving genome assembly, uncovering structural variation information, and querying the epigenome. We are a diverse, talented, multi-disciplinary team innovating in the field of genomics, with the ultimate goal of leaving a lasting impact on the world by providing researchers and clinicians with tools for better informing biological understanding.

Cantata is looking for a talented lab research associate to be part of our production team. The successful candidate will have responsibility for processing of customer samples through DNA extraction and library preparation. As a production team member, the candidate will collaborate closely with other researchers on projects and development of standard operating procedures.

The ideal candidate will have worked for a minimum of two years in a research laboratory and have at least a Bachelor of Science in a life science discipline. In addition, experience in one or more of these fields is required: nucleic acid extraction, molecular biology (e.g., cloning, PCR), Next Generation Sequencing.

Key responsibilities:

• Working as a part of a team in a production environment
• High molecular weight DNA extraction
• Sequencing library preparation
• Operating Next Generation Sequencing instruments

Desired Background and Skills include:

• 2 years of lab experience
• Bachelor or Masters degree in biology or other life sciences specialty
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills and collaborative nature
