Dean of Students provides strategic initiatives and direction for student affairs. Ensures the delivery of effective and quality service to students in the following areas: student housing, counseling, student conduct, and orientation. Being a Dean of Students counsels the top management regarding overall student morale and services. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Dean of Students typically reports to top management. The Dean of Students manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Bank of America has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County to place two prequalified students to join their organization on a temporary leadership developmental assignment. Boys & Girls Clubs (BGC) is a fascinating organization where we encourage our young people emotionally, physically, and academically. We have been making a difference in our youth since 1860. How You Will Help Us Make a Difference
Leadership
-Interview BBBSCI Directors and Supervisors to learn about their journey and leadership styles
-Interview Chief Executive Officer. Shadow CEO during a 1:1 meeting with a Direct Reports
-Compile report on what he/she has learned from the interviews
- Accompany CEO to a Board meeting that she has outside of the organization. Attend a Board of Directors meeting
-Attend one Executive Committee meeting
Program Support
-Support and gain understanding of our overall program goals as well as specific duties and responsibilities of each staff member by shadowing child, family and volunteer enrollment staff – this will include attending orientations, interviews, and match meetings.
-Participate in volunteer recruitment efforts and assist with setup of activities.
-Attend staff-related meetings such as program meetings, match identification meetings and client introduction meetings.
-Assist with coordinating summer activities for matches.
Resource Development Support
-Spend time learning and using our fundraising software application, Donor Perfect, and learn how to generate company giving history reports from the application.
-Participate with the Director of Development in pre-call planning activities including giving history reports and company background research.
-For selected donor calls, join the Director of Development on the call to observe the call flow and discussion items as well as capture notes for the post-call de-brief back at the office.
-For specific grant applications, work with the Grant Manager on the creation of the grant application as it is being prepared for the submission process.
-Assist on special planning assignments related to the Big Shots Golf fundraising event.
Miscellaneous
-Put together a PowerPoint presentation to be presented to BBBSCI staff and a BOA representative.
-Help organize employee appreciation summer potluck.
-Participate in a 2-hour workshop on personal branding conducted by CEO.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
