Decision Support Analyst

  • The Decision Support Analyst contributes to the efforts of reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating informatics system and user needs. He/she must have the ability to prioritize multiple activities and tasks simultaneously and adapt to a rapidly changing environment under limited supervision. The Decision Support Analyst collaborates with team members to define data requirements, design the functional solution, identify and resolve issues, and ensure accuracy of reporting requirements. The Decision Support Analyst is an independent, innovative, self-managing individual with the ability to succeed with only general directions while communicating status to key team members.

     

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    75% - Requirements:

    • Ability to understand eClinical Works data modules, working to become a subject matter expert and focused on issue resolution.
    • Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases.
    • Building data and information models to capture a wide range of healthcare operations.
    • Collaborating with team for the purpose of collecting data and processing information.
    • Compile and prepare data for analysis and reporting purposes, collects, integrates, and validates diverse data sets.
    • Define requirements and ensure specific requirements are met and approved by users where critical to results and timetable.
    • Gathering, interpreting and analyzing data, finding patterns and trends, identifies opportunities to improve existing processes.
    • Manage expectations of data request by ensuring a common understanding of what is needed and expected delivery/resolution.
    • Perform analytics against healthcare data to support management initiatives using SQL based programming tools.
    • Ability to work with large, complex data sets and structure to find usable information to create reports for internal teams and/or external clients.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Functional & Technical Knowledge – Demonstrate a high level of expertise in a variety of SQL and structure concepts, practices, and procedures.

     

     

    RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE

    The successful candidate should have worked as an Decision Support Analyst previously at an established business or organization (preferably in healthcare). He/she should possess solid technical expertise in formulating database designs, data models, data mining skills and segmentation techniques. A solid grasp of reporting techniques, databases (SQL and no-SQL), experience and understanding of programming concepts. The applicant should be up to date with current data mining trends and tools. The best candidates will have experience of statistical tools such as Excel, SPSS and SAS.

     

    Other preferred/required experience:

    • 3 years of experience with data analysis using SQL required.
    • Strong analytical background including some knowledge of SQL.
    • Experience in a healthcare setting.

     

    OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prefer experience in a business setting related to Physician applications.
    • Prefer experience with eClinical Works (eCW) applications.
    • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • Highly motivated and able to work independently with general supervision.
    • Sense of responsibility and accountability; someone who takes ownership and initiative.
    • The ability to think and act; decisiveness, assertiveness, with the ability to achieve results quickly.
    • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to handle ambiguity and changing priorities.
    • Professional demeanor and positive attitude; customer service orientation.

    • Detailed oriented and analytical with good organization skills
    • Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies, methods, and processes.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Requires long hours of very detailed work relating to healthcare data.
    • Requires ability to multi-task and handle numerous issues concurrently.
    • Overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
    • Sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.
