    News West Publishing Company, Inc. / Wickenburg Sun Division is seeking an advertising sales consultant for its team in the greater Phoenix, AZ area. The publications include a weekly newspaper, as well as a shopper.

    As an Advertising Sales Consultant, you will provide outstanding customer service to established accounts as well as prospecting new accounts. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work with multiple deadlines and assignments.

    The work week is Monday through Friday. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background/credit check, and also possess a valid driver’s license with company-required minimum automobile insurance.

    JOB PURPOSE: To recognize changes and opportunities in the marketplace and recommend to current clients and prospective businesses the best course of marketing for them. To take a proactive approach for creating revenue growth with; online, niche products and magazines that are offered by the Company. Consult with existing and new advertising customers and translate their business objectives into successful advertising programs.

    COMMUNICATIONS: Professional and tactful staff communication is essential to business success! Appropriate communication with clients, vendors, colleagues and supervisors should maintain a respectful and courteous tone and professional manner. When faced with challenging situations, practice exhibiting mature behavior and confronting the situation considerately.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Meet or exceed monthly revenue goals as established by sales manager.
      2. Each working day in sales must utilize a consultative sales approach to build solid client rapport.  Effectively sells through good communication skills, willingness to listen and sensitivity to customer needs. 
      3. Utilize sales support and other internal resources to increase time in the field. 
      4. Develop and pursue leads in order to develop new business from non-advertisers and /or customers using competitive media.
      5. Manage and develop existing accounts to maximize their advertising exposure.
      6. Apply standard operating policy and procedures to your daily tasks as they pertain to the Sales Department.
      7. Demonstrate professional and effective work habits: clear and focused mind, driven to succeed, strong inter-personal skills and communication, goal-setting/reaching and encouraging other team members. 
      8. Work within the guidelines of the credit department to manage assigned accounts’ applications, billing, and payments of placed advertising to keep write-offs to a minimum. Collect on accounts within 30 days of publication.
      9. Provide accurate information and insertion orders: copy; run dates, rate cards/quotes, provide proper contact info to the client, and minimize credits.
      10. Provide exceptional customer service by ascertaining client’s marketing needs, strategies and procedures.
      11. Makes effective sales presentations to advertisers, showing how the features and benefits of the publication can better serve their needs.  Presentations can range from a one-on-one informal daily sales call, to a formal presentation to specific groups.
      12. Must adhere to all deadlines for our newspapers, online, niche products and magazines.
      13. Advises and sells appropriate customers into other publications in-group (cluster) for maximum market penetration and increased advertising response. Sells within specified territory.
      14. Able to work within a tight deadline and be able to adapt to scheduling and work requirements.
      15. Good communication skills, both written and oral with staff, management, community, customers and vendors.
      16. Demonstrate consistent, effective work habits; efficient time-management planning and ability to meet deadlines. 
      17. Perform all duties in a safe, professional, courteous and efficient manner.
      18. Attends and actively participates in scheduled meetings and adheres to Company policies and procedures.  
      19. Assist with other administrative duties as they should become available.
      20. Attends and actively participates in scheduled sales meetings to stay abreast of sales information, trends and policies.   Contributes current account activity information and other related data as requested.  
      21. Develops individual sales skills and abilities through reading of appropriate material, studying, practicing and attending selected away-from-office training seminars or sessions.
      22. Must be able to consistently start work at agreed upon start time, and work a full scheduled shift. 
      23. Must adhere to all BCI policies and procedures and comply with all state and federal legislation.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Maintain a valid state driver’s license and insurance, if driving for company business is an essential function of the job.
